Activity 2

Early childhood pillars' child and family development center provides a supportive environment that allows children to gain the skills needed to be successful for school readiness and life. Activities focus on improving literacy, math and science skills, physical development, and social emotional development. Culturally-competent services are provided and bilingual staff members are present in the classrooms (languages include english, arabic and spanish). Pillar's child and family development center provided head start and daycare programs to 233 children in fiscal year 2011. Services are provided to children ages six weeks old to five years of age, including children with disabilities and special needs. 100% of enrolled families in need of additional resources were linked to other pillars programs or outside service providers.

Activity 3

Domestic violence/sexual assault pillars' domestic violence and sexual assault services include two 24 hour crisis lines; shelter for women and their dependent children affected by domestic violence; case management; individual, group, and family counseling; medical advocacy, and legal advocacy. During the fiscal year, pillars' domestic violence program provided nearly 6,400 service hours to more than 900 women and children. Of the clients served, 134 (60 adults and 74 children) accessed nearly 4,000 nights of shelter. More than 1,000 calls were received by our 24 hour crisis hotline. Pillars' sexual assault program provided over 3,200 service hours to more than 360 survivors and significant others.
