Life memberships are available to either past presidents of the organization, or anyone who is an active dues-paying member for not less than 10 years and is retired from public service.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7A

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Compensation for the executive director is negotiated with the board. The board then votes on the final compensation package, which is presented to the individual in contract form. General counsel is present during thses negotiations. Compensation for employees is recommended by the executive director and presented to the board. The board then discusses and makes changes as deemed necessary, culminating in a vote and direction to the executive director as to final approved salaries. General counsel is present during these discussions.

Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

The board of directors assumes responsibility for oversight of the audit of its financial statements and selection of an independent accountant.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization qualifies under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code as a not-for-profit institution and is recognized as such by the internal revenue service. The organization is therefore exempt from federal income tax on activities related to its exempt purpose. However, income from certain activities not directly related to the organization's tax-exempt purpose may be subject to taxation as unrelated business income. Gaap prescribes rules for the recognition, measurement, classification, and disclosure in the financial statements of uncertain tax positions taken or expected to be taken in the organization's tax returns. Management has determined that the organization does not have any uncertain tax positions or associated unrecognized benefits that materially impact the financial statements or related disclosures. Since tax matters are subject to some degree of uncertainty, there can be no assurance that the organization's tax returns will not be challenged by the taxing authorities and that the organization will not be subject to additional tax, penalties, and interest as a result of such challenge. Income tax returns of the organization are subject to examination by tax authorities, generally for three years after they were filed.

PART XI, LINE 4B - OTHER ADJUSTMENTS:

Magazine and investment expenses netted on financial statements 117,878.

PART XII, LINE 4B - OTHER ADJUSTMENTS:

Magazine and investment expenses netted on financial statements 117,878.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0THE ORGANIZATION QUALIFIES UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE AS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT INSTITUTION AND IS RECOGNIZED AS SUCH BY THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE.
