Board members also sign the conflict of interest policy annually, and the Executive Committee monitors. Should any potential conflicts of interest be disclosed, the board member or officer would be asked to refrain from participation in any decision with regard to matters affected by the relationship.”

“Raises and compensation levels are approved by the independent Board of Directors as part of the budgeting process. Compensation for officers is reviewed by the independent Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. In March 2014 a compensation review of comparable positions of other similarly sized human services agencies in metro Chicago was conducted by the HR Committee Chairperson. The results were used by the Executive Committee in guiding compensation rates for 2015 for officers and supporting a 5% across the board rate increase for staff. The deliberation and approval process is documented in the Committee minutes.”
