“The tax return is reviewed in draft form by the executive committee, including the board chair and treasurer. Upon approval, the tax return is distributed to all board members prior to the return being filed.”
“Management annually reviews all existing and new relationships to identify any conflicts of interest that need to be disclosed. The policy applies to board members, officers, and employees. Conflicts require disclosure of the conflict and abstaining from the related vote. A more serious conflict requires an investigation by the executive committee or board of directors.”
“The board annually reviews the president's performance and approves any changes in compensation. Comparative data provided by united way worldwide and information derived from local nonprofit salary surveys is considered when determining compensation. Compensation deliberations and decisions are documented in board minutes. The board reviewed compensation in 2012 as part of the overall budgeting process.”
“The organization's financial statements are available to the public upon request.”
“There was no change during the tax year.”
“The endowment gifts are restricted to investments in perpetuity. The earnings from the endowment investments are temporarily restricted by the endowment agreement and are recorded as such in temporarily restricted net assets.”
“The organization if exempt from income tax under provisions of internal revenue code section 501(c)(3). Accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america require management to evaluate tax positions taken by the organization and recognize a tax liability if the organization has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by the irs or other applicable taxing authorities. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken by the organization and has concluded that as of june 30, 2014 and 2013, there are no uncertain positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability or disclosure in the financial statements. The organization is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress. Management believes it is no longer subject to income tax examinations for years prior to fiscal year 2011.”
