ReasonableCauseExplanation/ExplanationTxt0The organization was unable to file its 2023 Form 990-EZ by the original due date due to unforeseen circumstances and a change in reporting requirements identified after the tax filing deadline. After engaging an accountant in 2025 to review the organizations financials, it was determined that funding previously received as a forgivable loan was required to be prorated and recognized annually as contribution income, which added complexity to the preparation of the return. The organization had engaged the accountant to prepare and file both the 2023 and 2024 returns; however, due to unexpected medical circumstances, the accountant was unable to complete the filings and refunded the deposit. As a result, the organization needed additional time to secure alternative assistance and properly prepare the returns. The organization has made every effort to comply with IRS filing requirements and is taking steps to ensure timely filings in the future. The delay was not due to willful neglect but due to reasonable cause as described above.
