HANDS UP STAFF (1) WORK IN THIS PROGRAM TO SUPERVISE THE MEALS, PROCESS PANTRY ORDERS, AND KEEP THE MEAL SPACE CLEAN.

HANDS UP STAFF (2) WORK WITH THE PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR AS THEY LEARN THE SKILLS AND TAKE CLASSES TO BECOME A PRESCHOOL TEACHER. THE PROGRAM IS LED BY LOCAL ARTISTS TRAINED AT HERRON SCHOOL OF ART AND DESIGN IUPUI. THE PROGRAM SERVED 40 YOUTH FOR A BRIEF 4 WEEKS OF SUMMER WHEN ALL NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOLS WERE ON SUMMER BREAK. THE YOUTH MEET M-F AND RECEIVE INSTRUCTION ON GUIDANCE IN CREATING NEW ART WORKS. EACH CHILD ALSO RECEIVES A HEALTHY LUNCH AND FRESH FRUIT FOR MORNING SNACKS. THE PROGRAM WORKS WITH YOUTH THAT ARE ON THE FREE/REDUCED LUNCH PROGRAM ON A PAY WHAT YOU CAN BASIS TO INSURE EVERY CHILD HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN IN.

IN ADDITION PARENTS RECEIVE A CHOICE OF GIFT ITEMS ALONG WITH GROCERIES FOR THE FAMILY. THIS PROGRAM USES A LARGE NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS. ALL GIFT ITEMS ARE DONATED BY LOCAL BUSINESSES AND CONGREGATIONS. 400 CHILDREN FROM 141 FAMILIES PARTICIPATED IN THIS PROGRAM. MEALS WERE PROVIDED THROUGH THE GROCERIES GIFTED IN THIS PROGRAM TO PARTICIPATING FAMILIES HANDS UP STAFF (4).
