Mission

Josephs Home, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System, provides a nurturing caring environment for adults without resources who have acute medical needs helping them heal and achieve independence.

To support the mission and ministry of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, Joseph's Home provides medical respite to homeless men through temporary emergency shelter and assists them in achieving medical stability and permanent housing.

Joseph's Home Form 990 was prepared by management. A draft copy was reviewed by the finance committee then made available to the board prior to the filing date.

Conflicts of interest are addressed via annual questionnaires to all directors, officers and key employees. These are reviewed by the Deputy General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer of SCHS.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

The SCHS Human Resource Department provides guidance and oversight for compensation of the Executive Director of Joseph's Home. SCHS takes into consideration current trends in pay and also utilizes an outside consultant to provide market data for similar positions at other organizations. The Joseph's Home search committee reviews this material and also considers mission competencies required for entity leadership as part of its hiring process. In addition benefit packages are reviewed to ensure they are consistent with the market and mission.

It is the only medical respite program providing temporary emergency shelter to homeless men in Northeast Ohio. Homeless men with acute medical issues, age 18 years and older, are referred through Cuyahoga County's Centralized Coordinated Intake. Joseph's Home 24 hour interdisciplinary team and board leadership work with each individual through an integrated health approach to increase medical, financial and housing stability. After discharge services continue with care coordination and ongoing support to assist men in achieving long term medical and housing stability.
