THE YEAR 2022 MARKED 67 YEARS OF SHADYBROOK'S PRESENCE IN THE COMMUNITIES OF NORTHEASTERN OHIO. THE SUCCESS OF ITS LONGEVITY IS OWED IN PART TO STRENGTH OF SHADYBROOK'S LEADERSHIP OVER THE YEARS TO UNDERSTAND AND MEET THE NEEDS OF THOSE IT SERVES. SHADYBROOK'S GOVERNING BODY IS ITS BOARD OF TRUSTEES, CONSISTING OF INDIVIDUALS ELECTED BY THE MEMBERSHIP TO OVERSEE THE OPERATIONS OF THE ORGANIZATION, INCLUDING DECIDING HOW BEST TO SERVE THE PUBLIC. IN ORDER TO PROMOTE BROAD COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION AND MEMBERSHIP, ANYONE IS WELCOME TO BECOME A MEMBER OF SHADYBROOK. SHADYBROOK'S MEMBERSHIP DRIVE IS ACTIVE YEAR ROUND. AN INVITATION TO BECOME A MEMBER OF SHADYBROOK IS PUBLISHED ON ITS WEBSITE. LETTERS SOLICITING NEW MEMBERSHIPS AND MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS ARE EMAILED TO THE ORGANIZATION'S FULL MAILING LIST, WHICH INCLUDES CURRENT MEMBERS, INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN THE ORGANIZATION WHO ARE NOT MEMBERS, AND A NUMBER OF LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS. BROCHURES INVITING PEOPLE TO BECOME MEMBERS OF THE ORGANIZATION ARE AVAILABLE AT SHADYBROOK'S PROGRAMS AND EVENTS WHICH ARE WIDELY ADVERTISED TO THE PUBLIC THROUGH AN ACTIVE SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE. ALTHOUGH A SCALE OF MEMBERSHIP FEES IS SET, A DONATION OF ANY AMOUNT SUBMITTED WITH A MEMBERSHIP FORM IS ACCEPTABLE. THE ORGANIZATION BELIEVES THAT FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS SHOULD NOT HINDER MEMBERSHIP FOR THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE DRAWN TO A DEEPER ASSOCIATION WITHIN THE SHADYBROOK COMMUNITY. A DONATION OF ANY AMOUNT IS ACCEPTABLE FOR SUCH MEMBERSHIP. DURING 2022, SHADYBROOK CONTINUED TO SUBSIDIZE, PROMOTE, AND COORDINATE ENRICHMENT ORIENTED EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE TO BOTH MEMBERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC THROUGH IN PERSON AND VIRTUAL PROGRAMS. WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS AND EVENTS WERE SELECTED TO APPEAL TO PERSONS HAVING A BROAD, COMMON INTEREST IN SELF DISCOVERY THROUGH PERSONAL GROWTH AND SPIRITUAL EXPLORATION, AND TO PROMOTE ONGOING PERSONAL EXPLORATION IN SUCH ACTIVITIES. SHADYBROOK CONTINUES TO OFFER FREE PROGRAMS IN ADDITION TO THOSE HAVING A DESIGNATED FEES SO FINANCIAL LIMITATIONS WILL NOT PREVENT INTERESTED INDIVIDUALS FROM THESE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES. IN ADDITION, SHADYBROOK'S ONLINE PRESENCE EXPANDED ITS REACH BEYOND THE NORTHEAST OHIO BORDERS ATTRACTING INDIVIDUALS FROM DISTANT STATES AND COUNTRIES. A SUBSTANTIAL PORTION OF SHADYBROOK'S OPERATIONS IS FUNDED BY A WELL-MANAGED ENDOWMENT, WHICH WAS CONTRIBUTED BY A SHADYBROOK FOUNDING MEMBER DECADES AGO. THIS GIFT CONTINUES TO HELP FULFILL THE ORGANIZATION'S VISION OF PROVIDING SPIRITUAL AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT BENEFIT THE GENERAL PUBLIC. ENDOWMENT FUNDS ARE SUPPLEMENTED BY: (1) SHADYBROOK'S CONTINUOUS AND BONA FIDE PROGRAM FOR SOLICITING FUNDS FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC; (2) PROGRAM FEES FOR WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS, AND EVENTS DESIGNED TO INCLUDE MEMBERS AND THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE; (3) BY INCOME FROM MEMBERSHIP AND GENERAL DONATIONS; AND (4) FROM GOODWILL DONATIONS. FOUR SOCIAL EVENTS ARE HELD QUARTERLY FOR THE MEMBERS IN APPRECIATION FOR THEIR INTEREST AND INVOLVEMENT IN THE ORGANIZATION. MEMBERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING GUESTS FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO THESE EVENTS. HISTORICALLY, SHADYBROOK ALSO SEEKS OUT AND COLLABORATES WITH OTHER LIKE-MINDED NONPROFIT AND CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS AS WELL AS COMMUNITY INSTITUTIONS IN PARTNERSHIP TO ACHIEVE THESE PURPOSES.
