Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part I, Line 1

The payton wright foundation is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, established to support pediatric brain cancer research and to financially assist families who have a child with brain cancer. The foundation was formed after the foundation's co-founders (patrick and holly wright) lost their 5yr old daughter, payton, from a rare form of brain cancer in may 2007. The payton wright foundation is passionate and committed to help raise funds and awareness for this horrific disease. The payton wright foundation's passion and joy come from helping families financially when faced with all of the emotions and decisions that come with a child's diagnosis of cancer. The payton wright foundation does this because they know how tough the fight is and they want to enable these families to solely focus on the health of their child. The payton wright foundaiton cannot express enough how something as simple as a gas card or a rent check can make the difference economically for a family. The payton wright foundation assist families at hospitals both locally and nationally. The foundation has met with numerous hospitals around the country to build a trusting relationship. The pediatric neuro-oncologist and/or the pediatric oncology social worker identifies those families in need. The physician or social worker will scan the family's bills to the payton wright foundation. The foundation will then pay the bill directly to the company.

Form 990, Part I, Line 6 Volunteers

Volunteers for the payton wright foundation assist with event planning, selling event tickets, locating sponsors, checking in/out guests at event, educating others of the foundations mission/goals/achievements, printing/designing materials, filing, writing out thank you cards to donors/supporters, and light administrative duties.

Form 990, Part III, Line 2

The payton wright foundation (pwf) started the "transportation program" due to the large volume of requests for "gas gift cards" from hospitals that partner with the payton wright foundation. Pwf purchases gas cards and sends them directly to doctors, case workers and/or the hospitals. The pediatric neuro-oncologist/oncology social worker deliver the cards to those families in need in order to help transport their child battling brain cancer to their treatments. In addition to the "transportation program" the payton wright foundation assists families with their needs in the areas of mortgage assistance, utility bills and funeral expenses

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0THE PAYTON WRIGHT FOUNDATION IS A 501(C) 3 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, ESTABLISHED TO SUPPORT PEDIATRIC BRAIN CANCER RESEARCH AND TO FINANCIALLY ASSIST FAMILIES WHO HAVE A CHILD WITH BRAIN CANCER.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1VOLUNTEERS FOR THE PAYTON WRIGHT FOUNDATION ASSIST WITH EVENT PLANNING, SELLING EVENT TICKETS, LOCATING SPONSORS, CHECKING IN/OUT GUESTS AT EVENT, EDUCATING OTHERS OF THE FOUNDATIONS MISSION/GOALS/ACHIEVEMENTS, PRINTING/DESIGNING MATERIALS, FILING, WRITING OUT THANK YOU CARDS TO DONORS/SUPPORTERS, AND LIGHT ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2THE PAYTON WRIGHT FOUNDATION (PWF) STARTED THE "TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM" DUE TO THE LARGE VOLUME OF REQUESTS FOR "GAS GIFT CARDS" FROM HOSPITALS THAT PARTNER WITH THE PAYTON WRIGHT FOUNDATION.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3HOLLY AND PATRICK WRIGHT WERE BOTH VOTING BOARD MEMBERS AND WERE PAID BY THE ORGANIZATION. WHEN MATTERS PERTAINING TO THEIR PAYMENT AROSE, THEY RECUESED THEMSELVES FROM THE VOTE.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt4PATRICK (PRESIDENT) & HOLLY WRIGHT (VICE PRESIDENT) ARE HUSBAND & WIFE. HOLLY WRIGHT (VICE PRESIDENT) & BRIAN PORTER (DIRECTOR) ARE BROTHER & SISTER. HOLLY WRIGHT (VICE PRESIDENT) & KIM PORTER-BERCEAU (DIRECTOR) ARE SISTERS.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt5THE 990 IS PREPARED BY THE ORGANIZATION'S CPA. IT IS THEN REVIEWED BY THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, PRESIDENT AND TREASURER WHO RECOMMEND APPROVAL TO THE BOARD. THE BOARD THEN APPROVES IT.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt6ANNUALLY THE BOARD MEMBERS SIGN A DISCLOSURE OF ANY CONFLICTS AND AT EACH BOARD MEETING, THE BOARD IS ASKED IF ANY CONFLICTS HAVE ARISEN.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt7THE BOARD ANNUALLY REVIEWS HOW MUCH TIME IS SPENT BY EMPLOYEES ON THE VARIOUS FUNCTIONS AND WHAT TYPES OF JOBS SHE DOES. THE BOARD ALSO RESEARCHES AREA SALARIES FOR COMPARABLE DATA AND DOCUMENTS THIS.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt8THE ORGANIZATION MAKES ALL OF ITS DOCUMENTS AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC UPON REQUEST.
