A team of acute burn and critical care experts including plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, and a graphic artist/narrative medicine specialist worked in Kirtipur Hospital. Over the course of the visit, the team provided care, consultation, and teaching for 20 burn ICU patients, 31 acute burn ward patients, 9 outpatient clinic patients and 11 surgical patients in the operating room.”

“Program Service Expenses 29,136, Grants and allocations 0, Revenue 3,061 Nakaru Kenya - The volunteer medical team traveled to the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital to treat underserved patients in need of surgery for burn contractions, breast reconstruction, skin grafts, hand deformities and trauma. The team performed 61 reconstructive surgeries. In addition, 11 surgery residents and anesthetists from Kenya were trained in fundamental and advanced surgical techniques and procedures. The mission was conducted in collaberation with COSECSA College of Surgeons of East Central and South Africa, the largest surgical training program in Sub-Saharan Africa involving residents from 14 countries across East, Central and South Africa. We also partnered with the University of Nairobi, a leading institution for plastic surgeon training in Kenya.”
