Activity 2

The Medical services program provides primary ambulatory health care, drug therapy assistance and dental services to HIV+ and Aids clients residing primarily in the Coachella Valley, throughout Riverside County and portions of San Bernardino County. Desert Aids Project provided services to over 2,200 unique clients, 7,164 ambulatory clinic patient encounters were provided. In addition, 1,526 dental encounters were provided.

Activity 3

The social services program provides a variety of programs to assist and support HIV+ and AIDS clients residing primarily in the Coachella Valley, throughout Riverside County and portions of San Bernardino County. The services provided include food vouchers and a monthly farmers market which distributes fresh produce and other fresh food; housing assistance including emergency housing, rental and move-in expense assistance, utility and mortgage assistance to eligible clients; transportation assistance including gas cards and bus passes for eligible clients (4,082); mental health services including individual and group counseling, and psychiatric care (383); assistance for substance abuse including individual and group counseling, development of individualized treatment plans and referrals for outpatient care (220); education/outreach presentations on prevention, treatment, and services available; confidential free HIV testing with rapid results and connection to coordinated care and services if test is positive. 7,565 food vouchers were provided to clients. Approximately 2,800 individuals were provided produce and food staples through the food depot. Approximately 1,800 received housing assistance including 60 assisted in obtaining permanent housing.
