Mission

Carina is an online platform for individual providers and state-funded home care clients to find each other for work and support. This is a service supported through an agreement between the State of Washington and SEIU 775.

Carina is orgaized to support communities and individuals as they seek to fulfill their needs for in-home care and to provide innovative ways to improve the welfare of in-home care givers and the clients that they serve.

The Form 990 was prepared by the independent accounting firm SCHOEDEL & SCHOEDEL, Certified Public Accountants, PLLC from information provided by the SEIU Healthcare NW Training Partnership's Finance Director . Draft copies of the Trust's financial statements and Form 990 were first provided to the Finance Director and the executive director of Carina (Carina's ED), who reviewed the Form 990 for accuracy and completeness. Any questions, concerns or issues raised by the Finance Director and Carina's ED were addressed and any necessary revisions were made to the Form 990. The revised Form 990 was then provided to the Board of Directors for its review and approval. Any additional questions, concerns or issues raised by the Board of Directors were addressed and any necessary revisions were made to the Form 990. The final version of the Form 990 was reviewed and approved for filing by the Board of Directors.

Compensation of of the organization's executive director is determined based on a review and approval by the organization's board of directors, using comparability data and a contemporaneous substantiation of the deliberation and decision.

The Board of Directors is comprised of four individuals. In their roles as directors, all are fiduciaries and understand their fiduciary obligations. This includes acting in the best interest of the organization when performing the duties of a director. The amount of time spent on activities related to being a director is less than 500 hours per year per director. The organization does not compensate any of the board members. The employers of the director may provide some form of compensation to trustees serving on this board, but Connector Services does not readily have access to information related to compensation paid by other entities to the directors.

Draft copies of the Trust's financial statements and Form 990 were first provided to the Finance Director and the executive director of Carina (Carina's ED), who reviewed the Form 990 for accuracy and completeness. Any questions, concerns or issues raised by the Finance Director and Carina's ED were addressed and any necessary revisions were made to the Form 990. The revised Form 990 was then provided to the Board of Directors for its review and approval. Any additional questions, concerns or issues raised by the Board of Directors were addressed and any necessary revisions were made to the Form 990. The final version of the Form 990 was reviewed and approved for filing by the Board of Directors.
