Mission

Discovere is a coalition providing every student with a shared stem experience and the resources, programs, and connections to improve the understanding of engineering through a united voice and a global distribution network. Discovere helps stakeholders expand community and educational outreach by: providing resources and turnkey programs for employees and volunteers; supporting strong career connected learning initiatives; promoting positive visibility within the engineering and technology communities, including college students and the public-at-large. Discovere, with its working coalition of 100+ organizations, is known as one of the most effective collaborations today, recognized by corporations and engineering societies and mentioned in two reports by the national academy of engineering.

To provide education in the field of engineering & to promote the development & understanding of engineers within the engineering profession, with employers of engineers, & with the public.

For seven months of the fiscal year, national engineers week foundation was managed by collins & associates. Management duties included oversite of program manager and director of operations, develop and manage projects, develop program budgets and plans, write contract reports, and other duties.

A draft of the form 990 is reviewed by the organization's board of directors and the senior director of finance & administration of the national society of professional engineers prior to being filed with the internal revenue service.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The corporation requires annual disclosure of any conflicts of interest. When any such conflict of interest is relevant to a matter requiring action by the foundation board of trustees, the interested person shall call it to the attention of the board of directors, or any relevant committee/task force, and such person shall not vote on the matter; if appropriate, such director shall also absent him/herself from the discussion of the matter. Specifically, in considering a request to provide grant, loan or other funds to, or to borrow funds from, or to contract with, an outside corporation with which a director is affiliated, the concerned trustee shall notify the president of the board, or the committee/task force, of the relationship of such trustee to the outside corporation that is the subject of the matter before the board, or the committee/task force, and such directors' relationship, if any, to the consideration and development of the proposal before the board, or committee/task force. If there is a potential situation of this nature but a director is not certain if the circumstances come within such procedure, such director may consult with the secretary to determine the best course of action.

The foundation assesses whether it is more likely than not that an income tax position will be sustained upon examination on the technical merits of the position assuming the taxing authority has full knowledge of all information. If the tax position does not meet the more likely than not recognition threshold, the benefit of that tax position is not recognized in the financial statements. The foundation has determined there are no amounts to record as assets or liabilities related to uncertain income tax positions as of june 30, 2020 and 2019. Tax filings are subject to audit by various taxing authorities. Open periods subject to audit are generally the previous three years of tax returns filed.

NOTABLY, 7,500 ENGINEERS VOLUNTEER FOR THE COMPETITION AND ABOUT 225,000 SERVICE HOURS ARE GIVEN ANNUALLY TO DISCOVERE PROGRAMS.FUTURE CITY INVITES STUDENTS, WORKING UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF TEACHERS AND VOLUNTEER ENGINEERS, TO BUILD COMPUTER AND THREE-DIMENSIONAL SCALE MODELS OF CITIES OF TOMORROW. STUDENTS DEFEND THEIR DESIGNS BEFORE A PANEL OF ENGINEER JUDGES AND WRITE AN ESSAY ON A PREDETERMINED TOPIC. STUDENTS BEGIN WORK IN THE FALL AND PARTICIPATE IN REGIONAL COMPETITIONS IN JANUARY.
