THE AUTOMOTIVE TIRE SERVICE (ATS) PROGRAM COVERS PASSENGER AND LIGHT TRUCK TIRES, THE COMMERCIAL TIRE SERVICE (CTS) PROGRAM COVERS MEDIUM AND HEAVY DUTY TRUCK TIRES, THE EARTHMOVER TIRE SERVICE (ETS) PROGRAM COVERS OFF-THE-ROAD EARTHMOVER TIRES, THE FARM TIRE SERVICE (FTS) PROGRAM COVERS FARM AND AGRICULTURAL TIRES, AND THE INDUSTRIAL TIRE SERVICE (ITS) PROGRAM COVERS FORKLIFT AND MATERIAL HANDLING TIRES. THESE PROGRAMS OUTLINE THE SERVICE PROCEDURES AND SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR DEMOUNTING, MOUNTING, INFLATING, INSTALLING, REMOVING, AND HANDLING TIRE AND WHEEL ASSEMBLIES. THE CTS PROGRAM MEETS THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION (OSHA) TRAINING REQUIREMENTS CONTAINED IN OSHA STANDARD 29 CFR 1901.177. THE ETS PROGRAM CAN BE USED TO MEET THE MINE SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION (MSHA) ANNUAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS.THERE ARE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF TRAINING FOR THE ATS, CTS, ETS, FTS AND ITS PROGRAMS. THE 200-LEVEL PROGRAMS ARE FOCUSED ON THE STEP-BY-STEP SERVICE PROCEDURES SO THE TECHNICIAN UNDERSTANDS HOW THE TIRES AND WHEELS ARE SERVICED SAFELY. THE 300/400-LEVEL PROGRAMS ARE CERTIFICATIONS THAT REFLECT A HIGHER LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING WITH AN ACCREDITATION. THE 300-LEVEL REPRESENTS THE CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN PROGRAM AND IT IS AVAILABLE IN ATS, CTS, AND ETS. THE 400-LEVEL IS A CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN EXPERIENCED INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL TO TEACH THE COURSE TO PROSPECTIVE 300-LEVEL TECHNICIANS. THIS TRAIN-THE-TRAINER MODEL HAS BEEN VERY EFFECTIVE IN IMPROVING WORKPLACE SAFETY FOR MANY YEARS.IN 2018, THE TIRE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION DEVELOPED A 100-LEVEL SERIES OF PROGRAMS TO SERVE AS AN INTRODUCTION OR ORIENTATION TO THE TIRE AND WHEEL SERVICE INDUSTRY.
