The springfield foundation feature garden was planted in 2021. There were six beds measuring 10 x 20 feet. Before the sod was installed the irrigation system was installed. The grass which separated the beds served not only as a divider but a walkway for the visitors. The park system provides mowing for the grass areas but do not cut close to the beds. For this reason, it was necessary for the master garders to mow that area as well as other areas where the grass beds met. A riding mower with a big bag attachment and the ability to cut along the bed line was needed. This year, 2022, the mower was purchased in the spring so the edges could be cut without disturbing the beds.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 30

The garden of eatin' has been in existience since 2017. Over time, some of the materials used to enclose the garden needed to be replaced. During 2022, a number of stumps that were used as part of the fencing, began to break down. Not only were many becoming unsightly but they were presenting a safety concern. It was decided that the stumps would be removed during the coming year and replaced with sections of columns that had been saved from the memorial hall. Funds were available from the springfield foundation and removal of the stumps began in december. A gravel base was installed and the columns were put in place. Durng the coming year the spaces will be filled in.
