THE PERENNIAL BEDS HAVE REACHED MATURITY AND LOOK LIKE AN ESTABLISHED GARDEN. THE TRIAL GARDENS CONTINUE TO FUNCTION AND HAVE GROWN TO INCLUDE EVALUATIONS FOR THE ALL AMERICAN SELECTION PLANTS AND ORNAMENTAL GRASS TRIALS. THE HERB GARDEN POTAGER IS A FAVORITE TO VISITORS. THE EARLY OHIO SETTLER'S GAREN IS OF INTEREST TO VISITORS AS IT REPLICATES A GARDEN OF THE EARLY 1800'S. THE GARDENS WERE HOST TO 11 TOURS AND HAD NUMEROUS CASUAL VISITORS LOOKING FOR A PEACEFUL PLACE TO ENJOY SOME BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS AND RELAXATION. THEY HOSTED THE SPRINGFIELD IN FULL BLOOM JUDGES RECEPTION AND HAVE BECOME A POPULAR LOCATION FOR COMMUNITY RECEPTIONS.$34,074-

Volunteers contributed 10,646.18 hours of service during 2013, and have contributed 116,001.43 hours since the beginning of the program in 1993. The value to Clark County, since the inception of the program, is in excess of $1,000,000.00. Volunteers are recognized at this event and various certificates and special awards are presented. Clark County has had 4 Master Gardeners of the Year for the State of Ohio, 5 programs of the year for the State of Ohio, and 7 Friend of Master Gardeners for the State of Ohio. This year, Clark County early Ohio Settler's Garden was awarded the Backyard and Local Food Project of the Year for the STate of Ohio. Allen Hess, Chairman of the Fair Board of Clark County, won the Friend of the Year for the assistance they provide to the operation of the Gateway Learning Gardens and the support of the total Master Gardener program.$4,965-
S.E.E.D.S. Community Gardens (Formerly "Way to Grow") - Sow, Educate, Edibles, Diversity, and Share. The Master Gardeners support SEEDS Community Gardens both financially and through volunteer hours. Grants are secured and donated to the Ohio State University Extension in order to hire two part-time program coordinators. Volunteers work at various gardens teaching participants good gardening practices. In 2013, there were 31 local gardens around Springfield. The coordinators grew plants and procured seeds for the participating community gardens. Local garden centers also donated plants for the gardens. The program serves as a resource for neighborhoods as well as individuals in low or moderate income areas. Several of the gardens grew produce for local food pantries. The program continues to grow and provides a much needed resource in the community. The Victory Garden located at the OSU Extension office contributed over 6,000 pounds of produce to the local food pantry.$1,524-
