“Request for abatement of penalties 2016 form 990-ez for fiscal year ending march 31, 2017 is filed late due to our last two treasurer's untimely deaths. Our one treasurer who was with the organization for a very long time passed away unexpectedly. After locating the manual books and records that he kept, we found another treasurer for the organization. It was a lengthy process to find the records of the past treasurer and it was equally long to find a person willing and able to be our new treasurer. After reaching out to numerous members of the community we found a person who was both willing and able to act as our treasurer and get us caught up. Unfortunately, that treasurer suddenly passed away. We are a small non-profit organization that works entirely with volunteers and relies on donations. We do not have the funds to hire a bookkeeper. We eagerly searched yet again for a willing and able volunteer to act as our treasurer. Once again the old books and records were gathered and given to our 3rd treasurer. Bank account activity and invoices needed to be located to catch up from where the first treasurer left off. This was a difficult process becuase information had begun to go to the attention of our second treasurer who had then also passed away. We are glad to say that the third treasurer has stayed with us and is now giving monthly treasurer reports to the board. We have hired a cpa firm to review the treasurer's records and prepare our federal form 990-ez. The cpa, treasurer and vice president are in communiciation with filing form 990-ez so this does not happen again. In the future form 990-ez will be filed by the due date. We are currently in the process of filing 2017 form 990-ez as well to catch up. We rely on donations for our small non-rpofit. Paying a penalty would create an enormous hardship on our non-profit organization.”

“The organization aims to provide a meeting place in montgomery county for all sports persons of good will - to foster conservation of fishing areas and game lands in our commonwealth - to encourage the protection and propagation of all wildlife, game, and fish - to develop opportunities for the greater enjoyment of hunting, fishing, and other outdoor recrecreation, and to search for solutions to problems of ecology and pollution of the natural resources on our community and commonwealth.”

“We raise trout for the pa fish & boat commission. We stock trout in local streams. We deliver approximately 300 trout to each of the seven area townships and release the remainder into local streams for kids & handicapped derby's. We are montgomery county's only co-operative trout nursery.”
