Mission

Target hunger, a united way agency, works in partnership with service providers, community leaders and residents to alleviate hunger and its root causes in inner city neighborhoods. Target hunger is an independent texas nonprofit corporation. Target hunger's first priority is to ensure that those who need food have a place to get it. The organization then empowers its clients to become self-sufficient by offering various training courses.

Ensure a Houston where no one goes hungry and all can provide food for themselves and families.

IRS990/Desc0Food Services: Target Hunger is on the front lines of hunger every day through its food distribution system that includes food pantries, food fairs, a home delivery program, summer break food programs for children, mobile distribution sites, a community partner program, emergency food assistance, and two gardens. In 2024, Target Hunger distributed the equivalent of 1.6 million meals to 23,752 unique individuals in need and provided over 1,500 social service navigation referrals. These programs served individuals and familes from over 150 zip codes, and 57% residing in a 10-zip-code area concentrated in northeast and east Houston--neighborhoods with high food insecurity rates and classified by the USDA as food deserts.
