The health system follows the fasb's authoritative guidance on accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. The guidance clarifies the accounting for the recognition and measurement of the benefits of individual tax positions in the consolidated financial statements. Tax positions must meet a recognition threshold of more-likely-than-not in order for the benefit of those tax positions to be recognized in the consolidated financial statements. The health system has determined that no material unrecognized tax benefits or obligations exist. Generally, tax returns for years ended june 30, 2017, and thereafter remain subject to examination by federal and state tax authorities.
