“Promote the sport of rowing gcra's primary purpose is to promote the sport of rowing in the central ohio area and amateur competition regionally and nationally. Our major programs are learn to row, speakmon regatta, paralympic/para-rowing (parp) and providing instruction in safety and techniques to area rowers.”

“Learn to row learn to row is open to any adult interested in learning how to row. This year we had 46 enrollees with 10% joining the club. Many of the coxswains are college or high school students. Not only does the club benefit from their coaching, they are gaining leadership skills and increased knowledge of coaching techniques.”

“Speakmon regatta the speakmon regatta offers competition to high school, college and masters competitors. This year we had 39 clubs participate with 380 entries. Participants are from seven states and many different cities. We waive entry fees to two local high school rowing clubs and one university club team who help with volunteering.”

“Paralympic/para-rowing (parp) gcra's paralympic/para-rowing (parp) program, also known as adaptive rowing, is a community program that introduces people with physical challenges or handicaps to the sport of rowing. This program is a gcra member volunteered program. There are at least 2 sessions a month in which gcra volunteers provide para-adaptive rowing on either the ergs (rowing machines) in the off season or in boats in season (april-october).”
