Summary of accomplishments in 2019: rt privatized and separated from the miami county board of developmental disabilities. The center of medicaid gave all ohio providers like rt until 2024 to separate from their local county board. We effectively stepped out on our own as an operating 501(c)(3) effective 1/1/18. 2019 became the second year of our privatization. We were established in 1974 as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization as a sheltered workshop for adults with developmental disabilities. Through the years, rt has revolutionized, providing pre-employment services, transportation, and adult day services. Rt's mission: helping people achieve personal success by developing skills to confidently work, interact and thrive in the community this mission was adopted in march of 2019 with seven core values: safety, collaboration, camaraderie, growth, integrity, excellence and innovation. Our strategic plan 2018-2022 focuses on employee growth and development, community-based services and getting people the right tools to succeed in competitive employment. While rt has many layers of services, we developed good action plans around each department through 2022. Rt's hr director created a mentor program, personal growth & protg (pgp) in 2019 to provide coordinators with a director as a mentor, assisting each coordinator with their individual growth within the organization. Plans were put in place to go live with this program at the start of 2020. Adult day services fully transition to our building on 1/1/19. Through our focus of moving towards providing community-based services to help people be productive members of their communities through engagement, rt was one of six agencies in ohio to be awarded the innovative business strategies for day services grant through the department of developmental disabilities. Through this grant, we were able to dive deeper into the needed changes and development of our day services. Our plan focused on day services being moved from the four walls at rt and into community settings in 2021. Rt's organizational structure from 2018, supports the shift from facility-based services to community-based services as well as uses innovative means to connect individuals with employment exploration opportunities. Employment services was able to secure the project search service for the beginning of the school year, august 2019. This service is contracted through opportunities for ohioans with disabilities between upper valley medical center and upper valley career center as an internship to prepare students for employment within the hospital. Employment services fun facts we worked with 37 employers in 2019. There were 39 new jobs started with people with disabilities. 36 of these jobs were maintained for 30 or more days. 80 people employed as of dec. 2019 - 90 total jobs as some employees had 2 jobs there were 16 transition students who attended our summer youth program. The average time from job dev services to placement in a position was 67 days. 193 individuals were provided by the employment services department. Our transportation department was awarded one grant vehicle (14 passenger) through the 5310 grant with rta at the end of 2019, to be received in early 2020. We were able to utilize a local grants through the miami county foundation and the troy foundation to support the purchase of this vehicle troy foundation grant dollars also supported rt in purchasing updated first aid kits, emergency preparedness bags and emergency preparedness stations.
