Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

Income taxes and uncertain tax positions: The Springfield Urban League is exempt from Federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. However, income from certain activities not directly related to the League's tax-exempt purpose is subject to taxation as unrelated business income. The League follows the provisions of Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes. Those provisions clarify the accounting and recognition for income tax positions taken or expected to be taken in the League's annual reporting returns. The League's reporting returns are subject to audit by federal and state taxing authorities.

Those provisions clarify the accounting and recognition for income tax positions taken or expected to be taken in the League's annual reporting returns. The League's reporting returns are subject to audit by federal and state taxing authorities.
