Emanuel Community Center is focused on improving the lives of disadvantaged youth in the Over-the-Rhine community. We accomplish this through the Cincinnati Squash Academy, an urban squash program started and designed by the members of the board. This program combines academics, mentoring, fitness, community service, cultural enrichment and college placement of students in the Over-the-Rhine community.

WE COMPLETED CONSTRUCTION OF SQUASH COURTS AT OUR FACILITY IN SUMMER OF 2014. THE MISSION OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO CHANGE THE TRAJECTORY OF DISADVANTAGED YOUTH RESIDING IN THE OVER-THE-RHINE COMMUNITY BY HELPING THEM REACH THEIR FULL ACADEMIC AND ATHLETIC POTENTIAL. URBAN SQUASH IS A NATIONALLY TESTED YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OVERSEEN BY THE NATIONAL URBAN SQAUSH ASSOCIATION. THE PROGRAM COMBINES ACADEMICS, MENTORING, FITNESS, COMMUNITY SERVICE, CULTRAL ENRICHMENT, AND COLLEGE PLACEMENT FOR STUDENTS IN THE OVER-THE-RHINE COMMUNITY. IT IS AN INTENSIVE YEAR ROUND PROGRAMING THAT TAKES PLACE AFTER SCHOOL, ON THE WEEKENDS, AND IN THE SUMMER AND ENGAGES STUDENTS FROM THE TIME THEY JOIN IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL OR MIDDLE SCHOOL UNTIL THE GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE. URBAN SQUASH AND TS EDUCATION PROGRAMS STRIVE TO HAVE A TRANSFORMATIVE IMPACT ON THE LIVES OF ITS PARTICIPANTS. |
