“First, we define what's a conflict of interest which for our purposes is "conflict of interest is a conflict between the personal, private interests and the official responsibilities of a unidos employee or board member". Conflict of interest could include outside employment, direct profit from a firm or organization doing business with unidos, or any other activity which would afford an advantage to employees or the board members that they would not receive were they not an employee or board member of unidos. All employees are responsible for informing the executive director that a potential conflict of interest may exist. The executive director and/or the board chair will determine an appropriate course of action. We implemented it by having folks fill out conflict of interest disclosure forms included in the email.”
