“In fall of 2018, we premiered a looking for lilith original play, still she persists, at presentation academy. This play was available for touring throughout the season, along with what my hands have touched: us women in wwii, class of '70, and defining infinity. Together, these touring productions reached over 2,000 audience members in kentucky. In march of 2019, we co-produced karen zacarias' just like us with teatro tercera llamada, louisville's spanish language theatre. This play, which follows the lives and friendships of four mexican teenage girls, explores how their immigration status affects every aspect of their lives. This play ran for eight performances over two weeks at the kentucky center for the arts. In june of 2019, we premiered note, by local playwright eli keel, a play within a play that bravely and compassionately unmasks the inner life of a neurodiverse playwright living with bipolar disorder, who decides to end her life and leaves as a suicide note a one woman play for her older sister to direct. This play ran for eight performances over two weeks at the kentucky center for the arts.”
“Throughout the season we toured choices: an interactive play on cyberbullying and teen suicide, reaching over 1,000 middle and high school students. We conducted 30 weeks of afterschool programming in 7 elementary schools, and at western middle school for the performing arts. We also conducted 5 weeks of summer camp programming: 1 week for children ages 4-7, and 4 weeks of girlspeak, an intensive playwriting program for middle school girls as well as 3 individual day camps for children k-12,. Again this season, girlspeak was sponsored by the norton family foundation, and took place at adelante hispanic achievers, focusing on the stories of middle school latina girls. We partnered with the latina women's group of eastern area community ministries, using theatre of the oppressed techniques to explore issues of importance to immigrant women. Lastly, we partnered with the fund for the arts in louisville to bring excerpts of performances, followed by story circles, to three retirement communities.”
