Our vision is to create resilient futures for indigenous peoples by preserving, repatriating and restoring ancestral homelands, traditional food sources and subsistence practices to revitalize native culture, habitat, health and spirituality.

This group of individuals then discusses the contents of the return with the outside tax professional. After a full review, the final version of the tax return is provided to all members of the organization's voting body. A representative of management authorizes the final form 990 which is then e-filed with the internal revenue service.”

“Peopleback: peopleback focuses on food sovereignty, food security, and contributing traditional practices in line with cultural restoration programming in support of indigenous elders and community members. Through monthly distributions, frozen subsistence foods and prepared meals were provided to support nutritional security and the preservation of traditional foods. These distributions have also been shared outside of the organization's base of operations, reaching communities throughout alaska. Peopleback also advanced a cultural carving initiative through the transport and storage of two yellow cedar logs to cordova, alaska, for future healing pole development. The organization coordinated logistics, and community consultation with elders, cultural practitioners, and tribal leaders to ensure the project is grounded in traditional knowledge and cultural protocols.”

“The organization applies the provisions of topic 740 of the fasb asc related to accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. The organization annually makes a comprehensive review of its portfolio of uncertain tax positions in accordance with recognition standards established by asc 740. The organization recognizes tax liabilities for uncertain tax positions when it is more likely than not that a tax position will not be sustained upon examination and settlement with various taxing authorities. Liabilities for uncertain tax positions are measured based upon the largest amount of benefit that is greater than 50% likely of being realized upon settlement. The guidance on accounting for uncertainty in income taxes also addresses de-recognition, classification, interest and penalties on income taxes, and accounting in interim periods. Management has evaluated the organization's tax positions and has concluded that the organization has taken no uncertain tax positions that require adjustment to the financial statements to comply with the provisions of this guidance.”
