“In 2001, a group representing Compassion Net International (CNI) went to China and engaged in charity activities from Beijing to Fujian Province visiting a children's hospital, an orphanage, put on an English corner, and visit a rehabilitation center for hearing impaired children in Luoyuan County, Fuzhou City, Fujian Province for two days. After seeing the need for hearing aids for the children, CNI raised funds, bought hearing aids, and organized specialists in China to examine the children's hearing and fit hearing aids. The 24 children of the Luoyuan Hiromi Rehabilitation Center had their hearing examined. Although several children were profoundly deaf and could not be helped by the hearing aids, 17 children were able to to hear better with the hearing aids they were freely given. CNI learned that there were more children from poor families who needed hearing aids around Luoyuan and organized a hearing project in Luoyuan in 2003, with the help of the Luoyuan China Disabled Persons Federation (Luoyuan CDPF). They arranged more than 90 children from Luoyuan and two other areas to come to the project. 90 children. 57 children and 2 elderly hearing impaired men were fit with free hearing aids, most children received two hearing aids each. In 2004-2005, CNI went to Fujian Province three times to carry out what was named The Fujian Hearing Project. Seven American hearing experts and an ENT doctor, at their own expense and free of charge, to Fuzhou, Sanming, Nanping, Luoyuan, Fujian Province. Over 300 hearing impaired children from poor families had their ears and hearing examined at no cost and 263 children were given free hearing aids, with most children receiving two hearing aids. In 2006, the Fujian Hearing Project took place in Zhangzhou. Chinese and volunteer American and Canadian hearing experts were arranged to examined the ears and hearing of over 100 deaf children, 10 years old and younger and fit 89 children with free hearing aids. 2004-2005, CNI raised $28,500 for a cochlear implant surgery for a 14 year old girl from Luoyuan, at the First Fujian Medical University Hospital. CNI received $55,000 over the next few years to help pay for cochlear implant surgeries for three other deaf children from poor families in Fujian Province in the years 2012, 2013, 2014. The lives of three children were enriched with hearing through this amazing implant surgery. 2007. Volunteer hearing specialist from China, the US and Canada to work together, over 80 children were examined and over 52 deaf children were fit with free hearing aids. Most were given two hearing aids. In 2008, CNI networked with the Fujian, Fuzhou,and Putian CDPF for two Fujian Hearing Project. Over 100 children were examined by American and Canadian hearing experts and 90 children received heairng aids. In 2009, the Fujian CDPF changed the name of the hearing projects to Compassion Action. In the fall, Compassion Action took place in Longyan. Hearing experts from the US and Canada went to Fujian at their own expense. The Longyan CDPF arranged for 50 children receive free hearing exams and 28 of those children received free hearing aids. In 2011, CNI, with the help of the Fujian and Ningde CDPF, hearing exams and hearing aids were arranged and freely given by US hearing experts,who at their own expense, went to Longyan, Ningde, Minhou. 29 children received free hearing aids. During the years 2002-2011, over 1000 children received free hearing exams and over 600 of these children received hearing aids, with most of these children receiving two hearing aids. The value of 1100 hearing aids inUS retail valued in 2011was $1,100,000, not to mention the cost of the 1100 ear molds and impression material and 1100 battery packets.
