Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The underground development foundation seeks to build a unique underground community park in a historic trolley terminal on the lower east side of new york city, an area which has limited availability of open space for public use. By using innovative solar technology to illuminate the unused, neglected space, the organization will provide a beautiful respite and a cultural attraction in one of the world's most dense, exciting urban environments.

To transform an abandoned nyc trolley terminal into a vibrant green space using solar technology.

Form 990 Part XII, Question 2(C)

The organization's finance committee meets regularly and is responsible for the oversight and selection of the independent auditor.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america require management to evaluate tax positions taken by the organization and recognize a tax liability (or asset) if the organization has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by the internal revenue service. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken by the organization and has concluded that as of december 31, 2017, no uncertain positions were taken or are expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability (or asset) or disclosure in the financial statements. The organization is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES GENERALLY ACCEPTED IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA REQUIRE MANAGEMENT TO EVALUATE TAX POSITIONS TAKEN BY THE ORGANIZATION AND RECOGNIZE A TAX LIABILITY (OR ASSET) IF THE ORGANIZATION HAS TAKEN AN UNCERTAIN POSITION THAT MORE LIKELY THAN NOT WOULD NOT BE SUSTAINED UPON EXAMINATION BY THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE.
