“The Form 990 was prepared by outside accountants. A draft was then provided to the organization for review prior to filing with the IRS.”
“Each director, principal officer, and member of a committee with governing board delegated powers shall annually sign a statement which affirms such person: (a) has received a copy of the conflicts of interest policy, (b) has read and understands the policy, (c) has agreed to comply with the policy, and (d) understands the corporation is charitable and in order to maintain its federal tax exemption it must engage primarily in activities which accomplish one or more of its tax-exempt purposes. To ensure the corporation operates in a manner consistent with charitable purposes and does not engage in activities that could jeopardize its tax-exempt status, periodic reviews shall be conducted.”
“All officer salaries shall be approved in advance in accordance with the corporation's conflict of interest policy, as set forth in the corporate bylaws. In all cases, any salaries received by officers of the corporation shall be reasonable and given in return for services actually rendered for the corporation which relate to the performance of the charitable or public purposes of the corporation.”
“The organization makes its governing documents available to the public upon request.”
“The organization will also work to increase diversity in the filmmaking community and in the culture by promoting and training a more varied group of new filmmakers and other shapers of American culture, giving expression and an outlet to their multiple viewpoints and opinions.”
“Apollo Filmmaker Workshop: 25 emerging storytellers in film and television spent a summer weekend learning and expanding their knowledge of Hollywood industry with collaborative interactive sessions with each other and professional writers, directors, producers and managers. Odysseus Fellowship: Odysseus Fellows are placed in paid three-month internships at leading Hollywood production companies, management firms, TV writing staffs, and digital media companies. Successful applicants are emerging, liberty-inspired filmmakers or other creatives pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. Internship candidates participate in a rigorous application process in which successful applicants must demonstrate superior creative talent, previous industry experience, and a passion for liberty. Cinder Workshop: Program participants will have the opportunity to get thorough notes on their in-progress work as well as career advice from successful novelists, nonfiction authors, publishers, and literary agents. Part of what makes the Cinder Workshop unique is that we accept novels, long-form narrative non-fiction, graphic novels, and short stories of any genre. We balance workshopping with lectures on traditional and a range of independent publishing strategies and exercises that will help program participants take the right steps to develop their own successful platform. Moreover, program participants be joined by 10 mentors and industry experts and 15 peers, growing their personal network and knowledge of the craft of writing and the publishing industry. MFA Scholarship: The Cinder Scholarship offers grants of up to $4,000 for storytellers (writers and filmmakers) pursuing degrees in Masters in Fine Arts. The award recognizes applicants of demonstrated talent in their craft and a commitment to exploring themes of individuality, community and innovation broadly imagined in their works.
