Prior to filing, management reviewed the 990. After the filing with the irs, the board received the form 990 for their review.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

1. Duty to disclose - in connection with any actual or possible conflict of interest, an interested person must disclose the existence of the financial interest and be given the opportunity to disclose all material facts to the board or executive committee. 2. Recusal of self - any director may recuse himself or herself at any time from involvement in any decision or discussion in which the director believes he or she has or may have a conflict of interest, without going through the process for determining whether a conflict of interest exists. 3. Determining whether a conflict of interest exists - after disclosure of the financial interest and all material facts, and after any discussion with the interested person, he/she shall leave the board or executive committee meeting while the determination of a conflict of interest is discussed and voted upon. The remaining board or executive committee members shall decide if a conflict of interest exists. 4. Procedures for addressing the conflict of interest a. An interested person may make a presentation at the board or executive committee meeting, but after the presentation, he/she shall leave the meeting during the discussion of, and the vote on, the transaction or arrangement involving the possible conflict of interest. B. The chairperson of the board or executive committee shall, if appropriate, appoint a disinterested person or committee to investigate alternatives to the proposed transaction or arrangement. C. After exercising due diligence, the board or executive committee shall determine whether nauc can obtain with reasonable efforts a more advantageous transaction or arrangement from a person or entity that would not give rise to a conflict of interest. D. If a more advantageous transaction or arrangement is not reasonably possible under circumstances not producing a conflict of interest, the board or executive committee shall determine by a majority vote of the disinterested directors whether the transaction or arrangement is in nauc's best interest, for its own benefit, and whether it is fair and reasonable. In conformity with the above determination, it shall make its decision as to whether to enter into the transaction or arrangement.

PART IV, LINE 2B:

The nauc rents out certain space to unrelated organizations and individuals including the indoor gymnasium, indoor soccer fields, class rooms, and the grounds outside for public and private recreational and youth development. The escrow account liability reflects the rent deposits held for those who rent out this space for their use.

THESE CLASSES GRANT STUDENTS ACCESS TO INSTRUCTION AND RESOURCES OTHERWISE UNAVAILABLE SUCH AS IPADS, GUITARS, COMPUTERS, CHESS BOARDS, A COMMUNITY GARDEN, K'NEX BUILDING SYSTEMS, CODE ACADEMY, AND A WIDE VARIETY OF ART MEDIUMS. SATURDAY MORNING ENRICHMENT PROGRAM RUNS ON A 12-WEEK CYCLE THAT OVER 400 YOUTHS ATTEND. CONCURRENTLY, ADULT EDUCATION CLASSES IN ENGLISH AND COMPUTER BASICS ARE OFFERED, AND A FREE LENDING LIBRARY, WITH NO FEES, IS AVAILABLE TO ALL WHO ATTEND. THE PROGRAM HAS MORE THAN DOUBLED ITS NUMBER IN REGISTERED STUDENTS SINCE ITS FORMAL INITIATION IN 2014, AND HAS PAVED PATHWAYS TO MORE INTENSE EDUCATIONAL CLASSES SUCH AS OUR NEW COMPUTER SCIENCE PROGRAM IN 2016.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0LITERACY EDUCATION ADVOCACY PROGRAM (LEAP):SINCE 2013, MOUNT SAINT MARY COLLEGE (MSMC) HAS OFFERED TUTORING FOR NEWBURGH CHILDREN IN GRADES K-6 WHO ARE BEHIND IN THEIR READING AND LITERACY SKILLS IN SCHOOL. THE PROGRAM WORKS CLOSELY WITH SCHOOLS TO REACH OUT TO THOSE CHILDREN WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM INDIVIDUAL TUTORING IN READING AND WRITING. MSMC HAS FIVE DIFFERENT GRADUATE CLASSES IN LITERACY WITH FIELDWORK REQUIREMENTS INVOLVED IN THIS PROGRAM, SO THAT WE CAN OFFER TUTORING IN FALL, SPRING AND SUMMER SESSIONS. ADDITIONALLY, SOME OF THEIR CLASSES ARE PAIRED SO THAT THEY CAN OFFER TUTORING TWICE A WEEK, WHICH HAS BEEN FOUND TO PROVIDE GREATER GAINS WITH CHILDREN THAN OFFERING A WEEKLY PROGRAM. GRADUATE CANDIDATES ARE REQUIRED TO USE LITERACY ASSESSMENTS TO DIAGNOSIS A STUDENT, CREATE INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS FOR THE SEMESTER, THEN USE LESSONS AND ONGOING ASSESSMENTS TO BRING CHILDREN TO GRADE LEVEL AND TO HELP LEARNERS DEVELOP SELF-EXTENDING SYSTEMS AS INDEPENDENT READERS AND WRITERS. DURING THE PROGRAM, GRADUATE CANDIDATES MEET WITH PARENTS/CAREGIVERS TO SHARE STUDENT ASSESSMENT RESULTS, PROGRAM LEARNING GOALS, AND TO PROVIDE HOME LITERACY KITS FOR CHILDREN TO DO AT HOME TO REINFORCE AND EXTEND THEIR LEARNING. AT THE END OF THE PROGRAM, PARENTS/CAREGIVERS ARE PROVIDED WITH A SUMMARY REPORT OF STUDENT PROGRESS, WITH AN ADDITIONAL COPY THAT CAN BE SHARED WITH THE STUDENT'S TEACHER AT SCHOOL. THOSE STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT ACHIEVED GRADE LEVEL SKILLS BY THE END OF THE PROGRAM ARE INVITED BACK TO THE NEXT SESSION, PENDING A REVIEW OF AVAILABLE SPOTS. THIS PROGRAM HAS EXPANDED TO ALSO INCLUDE GRADUATE STUDENTS FROM SUNY NEW PALTZ'S SCHOOL OF EDUCATION, WHO ALSO TUTOR STUDENTS TWO DAYS A WEEK TO DOUBLE THE NUMBER SERVED, AND THE RESULTS OF THE PROGRAM. COLLECTIVELY THE MSMC AND SUNY NEW PALTZ TUTOR AN AVERAGE OF 100 STUDENTS PER YEAR, TO GET THEM TO REACH GRADE LEVEL, OR BEYOND, IN LITERACY SKILLS.
