Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The corporation shall be operated exclusively for the benefit of, to perform the functions of, or to carry out the purposes of project for pride in living, a minnesota nonprofit organization.

Ppl properties has been formed as a supporting organization to a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable minnesota corporation, project for pride in living, inc. (ppl). The mission of ppl is to work with lower-income individuals and families to achieve greater self-sufficiency through housing, employment training, education and support services. To this end, ppl properties shall own membership interests in limited liability companies that hold and manage real estate devoted to use as affordable housing for lower-income individuals and families. Ppl properties also participates as a partner in general and/or limited partnerships that own and manage real property, all for the benefit of ppl.

Ppl properties is classified as a tax-exempt organization under minnesota statute 290.05 and section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and is exempt from private foundation status under section 509(a)(1) of the internal revenue code and is subject to income taxes only on net unrelated business income. Management believes ppl properties did not have any unrelated business income in 2017 or 2016. Management believes it does not have any uncertain tax positions. Federal and state tax authorities generally have the right to examine the current and three previous years of income tax returns. Ppl properties is not currently under examination by any taxing jurisdiction.
