“Make me a queen program has 3 components: mentoring, leadership development and service. Girls are prepared to be at their best by intensive leadership development over weekend retreats, statewide field trips and events. Girls are also paired with female mentors who help to hold the girls accountable to the lessons taught in the program. In addition, girls earn over 150 service learning hours each as they implement their leadership skills by creating their own service project local to their communities. The program, which is most intense in its first year, prepares girls for higher education, some the first in their family to go to college.”
“The powerhouse project selects underserved rising junior and senior girls and prepares them for higher education and leadership. Through three program components - internship, service learning and leadership development - girls are prepared to lead in their careers and in life as they head to college. All girls earn service learning diplomas upon graduation and continue to lead in their communities. In addition, some girls receive additional scholarship awards due to their experience in the program. Girls are paired with opportunities to intern with 33 organizations such as law firms, newspapers, the local news station, small businesses and corporations, providing them competitive leadership and life skills application. The program continues to expand each year.”
“Queen's conference is the newest program for the queen's foundation. Queen's conference was designed to ensure past program graduates continue to hold themselves accountable to goals of the program and ensure girls remain engaged in the organization for life. A three day retreat each december was created to engage current and past participants. Sponsored by bayer cropscience, the three day overnight event included keynote speakers, a pamper day, photo shoot, fine dining, and action planning. Women leaders from the community donated their time to work with each student one-on-one to assist them in developing a one year action plan that tqf works with the girls to complete each quarter until next year's conference.”
