Mission

To provide low cost supervised housing for dual diagnosis individuals in the West and East Hawaii areas.

To provide low cost supervised housing for dual diagnosis individuals in the West and East Hawaii areas. Operation of program ceased in May of 2015. Bank account remained open to pay final bills.

Program Services

Alahou's facilities consisted of 19 one and two bedroom furnished apartments in three separate but adjoining buildingsm all located in the West Hawaii area. Tenant living quarters were segregated by gender but tenants shared common areas such as covered lanai and coin operated laundry facility. Residents maintained all the common areas. Volunteer staff work with tenant representatives to facilitate management of apartments. Program assumed by another agency in November 2013 and Alahou's moved operations to the East Hawaii area where they rented a large home with sufficient common areas to facilitate the continuation of the existing program services Staff work with doctors, counselors, social workers, etc. to provide tenants the structured environment they need to live independently. This program has been successful in reducing the number of mentally ill and drug and alcohol dependent adults living on the streets and beaches of West and East Hawaii. Alahou continued to operate program until June of 2015. Operations were taken over by another group and Alahou has liquidated and is closing their organization.$15,000$72,826
