Mission

The foundation's mission is to use the distribution of the audio and visual recordings of the performance of "we are the world 25 for haiti" as an educational tool to raise consciousness about the ongoing needs in haiti and other parts of the developing world affected by natural disasters; to build a worldwide movement that furthers the spirit of philanthropic activism; and to raise funds for distribution to other charitable organizations with efficient relief and development programs in haiti.

On september 12, 2014, the third installment of the original grant (as revised on july 30, 2012) was disbursed, together with the final installment of the supplemental grant, for a total of $464,850. Furthermore on august 5, 2015, the fourth installment of the original grant for the amount of $204,082 was disbursed, leaving the final sum of $57,000 to be disbursed on july 2016. In 2016, the supplemental grant of $275,185, which the grantee has designated to enable six months of operations at audio institute from august 2016 to january 2017, was approved on the last board call on june 21. Pursuant to the authorization of the supplemental grant the sum of $332,185, representing the supplemental grant as well as the final installment of the original grant of $57,000, was disbursed on june 28, 2016.
