“Mobile food pantry & saturday breakfast: bread shed provides a monthly mobile food pantry in butler, ripley, and carter counties in southeast missouri. This mobile food pantry provides approximately 30,000 individuals with food for a week. The food totals to approximately 150,000 lbs. In addition to the food pantry, bread shed provides a free breakfast on food pantry distribution days. Approximately 425 people are fed during the monthly breakfasts. In 2016, bread shed began weekly free lunch on sunday. Free sunday lunch is provided 50 weeks per year and approximately 250 people were fed during each sunday lunch in 2020. In 2020, bread shed began a mobile shower that operates at their building, and they began to provide toiletries and clean undergarments to attendees. Due to the covid-19 pandemic during 2020, bread shed implemented weekly food pickup for families per drive up distributions which took place for 4 months.”
“Abc "a better childhood": in february 2011 bread shed began the backpack friday program. In 2017, the program was changed to abc "a better childhood." the program partners with schools to identify children and their families who will benefit from receiving extra food each month. Once the families are identified, and abc "ticket" is sent home with each child as an invitation and pass to come to the bread shed on a designated day to receive a box of free groceries. During 2020, the abc program was suspended due to covid-19. The program is set to begin operating again in 2022.”
“Bread shed began distribution program of senior boxes (box of commodity cheese and staples) once a month to approximately 400 seniors. In addition the organization also began a distribution program on the 2nd thursday each month of newborn/infant supplies (diapers, formula, nursing supplies) to approximately 495 children.”

DURING 2020, THE ABC PROGRAM WAS SUSPENDED DUE TO COVID-19. THE PROGRAM IS SET TO BEGIN OPERATING AGAIN IN 2022. |
