“This category includes various programs described as follows: early intervention literacy turoring: provides two 14-weeks tutoring sessions that run twice a week for one hour, for approximately 23 low-income students in grades 1 through 3. The sessions were taught by dobbs ferry district teachers in an after-school setting. Students achieve dramatically increased reading levels. Served: 23 students 1st through 3rd grade food and clothing: provides basic needs by pairing needy families with sponsors who supply monthly food baskets and clothing for children. Also runs a bi-annual clothing boutique where gently used clothing and outerwear is selectd by families in a boutique-like setting. Food cards are distributed to families when there are school holidays where children cannot benefit from free school lunches. In addition, "snack fairies" provide nutritious in-school snacks for 25 to 30 elementary school children per day. Served: 175 children and their families high school senior awards: provides graduating seniors with awards for community services and pursuit of higher education. Served: 8 seniors enrichment sponsors: pays for after-school enrichment classes or programs such as stem, chess, ballet, basketball and other sports, in the dobbs ferry school district. Served: 36 children musical muses: provides and administers musical instrument rentals, accessories and music books for in-school enrichment orchestra and band lessons taught by district teachers. Served: 25 students k-12 high school-sat/prom/other: provides sat prep courses, remedial course tuition,senior yearbooks, prom tickets, sports equipment etc. As requested. Served: 27 students grades 1-8 homework help served: 24 students bridging the digital divide: purchases or provides laptop computers for use in low income family households in dobbs ferry, and provides limited internet service. Also, arranges tutorials to assure that parents are registered on the school website and have access to all school information that is transmitted exclusively through the internet.
