Circle the wagons is a utah based non-profit organization that provides survivors of violent crime, their family members and their friends with information and resources to help them recover from the trauma of their experience. Circle the wagons founder vickie walker launched the organization to support people who are in the unfortunate position of having to cope in the aftermath of a violent crime without adequate support and information. Vickies first hand experience began when her husband jeff was killed during the trolley square rampage on february 12, 2007 in salt lake city, utah at the trolley square mall. Her son, a.j., 16-years old at the time, was also shot but miraculously survived. The incredible support of family and friends who circled the wagons around vickie and her family ultimately helped them find the courage to move on after this horrific event. “In 2019, ctw maintained or established partnerships with law enforcement agencies include salt lake city, holladay, millcreek, riverton, herriman, midvale, taylorsville, kearns, magna, west valley, sandy, tooele, murray, south salt lake, provo, weber county and davis county. We distributed 500+ cans of comfort to victims and families of violent crime in utah including shootings, homicides and rapes. We also trained approximately 100 first responders and presented to an estimated 330 individuals at several conferences in utah and the western united states. In the past ten years, ctw has provided more than 3,500 cans of comfort, trained 700 first responders, presented to approximately 1,000 individuals and lists hundreds of resources on our website from all 50 states. VICKIES FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE BEGAN WHEN HER HUSBAND JEFF WAS KILLED DURING THE TROLLEY SQUARE RAMPAGE ON FEBRUARY 12, 2007 IN SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH AT THE TROLLEY SQUARE MALL. HER SON, A.J., 16-YEARS OLD AT THE TIME, WAS ALSO SHOT BUT MIRACULOUSLY SURVIVED. THE INCREDIBLE SUPPORT OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO CIRCLED THE WAGONS AROUND VICKIE AND HER FAMILY ULTIMATELY HELPED THEM FIND THE COURAGE TO MOVE ON AFTER THIS HORRIFIC EVENT.
