Mission and Program Overview

Mission

To provide nutritionally dense, nonperishable food to populations in need.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
SuperFood Drive works to improve the health of food-insecure populations by supporting hunger relief organizations to provide healthy food for people in need. SuperFood Drive pursues a vision in which every man, woman and child has access to nutritious food that is essential for an active and healthy life. Individuals typically respond to food drives by pulling cans from the back of the pantry. SuperFood Drive aims to transform the food drive process and help emergency food providers provide healthy food and nutrition education to those who would not otherwise have access through the following programs:SuperFood Pantry Program - turning all food banks and food pantries to nutrition banks and nutrition pantries to combat the epidemics of hunger, obesity, and malnutrition. Consultative Services - ongoing phone and email support and training to four major food banks. SuperKids for SuperFoods - a youth-based service-learning program which educates students on health and the benefits of nutrient-dense foods, while offering a community-wide approach to alleviating hunger in San Diego County. Total number of persons impacted: 85 school sites x 1,500 students/site = 127,500127,500 x average of 3 family members = 382,500127,500 + 382,500 = 510,000 Community SuperFood Drives - approach to community giving while engaging employees and donors in a team-building experience. Superfood Drive works with major food banks in five cities (San Diego, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, Seattle). Los Angeles Food Bank provides food to 1,006 food pantries, which serve approximately 1 million individuals per year; San Diego Food Banks provide food to 450 food pantries. Over 1 million pounds of food come from food drives. Superfood Drive impacts a good portion of this food.$107,276-
