“SHAREs mission is to empower girls in Africa through education. Share supports girls education in Tanzania. This east african nation is one of the poorest countries in the world. To be born a girl in rural Africa often means being doomeed to a life with little education, babies coming too early, too many births, babies who die of preventable diseases, subordination to a husband and his family, and an early death. to educate girls is to reduce proverty. All the evidence shows that taking girls out of the fields and homes, and putting them in classrooms raises economic productivity, lowers infant and maternal mortality, reduces fertility rates, and brings better environmental management. Studies prove that investing in girlseducation delivers huge returns for economic growth, womens health and disease prevention. Research has shown that a single year of primary education creates a 10-20 increase in a womans wages later in life. A young person with a secondary education is three times less likely to contract HIV. Education leads to more efficient argiculture and improved nutrition”

“School Infrastructure....................................... SHARE continues to help the Hekima Girls Secondary School recover from the damage caused by a devastating earthquake. This year SHARE repaired 4 damaged classrooms, made repairs cracks in the foundation and broken windows to the Capp Center, and aided in the construction of a new dorm, which included the installation of a dozen toilets. At the end of the year SHARE began the initial construction of a water pumping system from a nearby stream to provide clean drinking water to the students and staff during times of drought.”

This progam has one goal to send girls to school, SHARE helps brilliant girls who have big dreams but do not have the opportunity to get an education. SHARE provides sponsorships to derserving students, many of them orphans, who are struggling or unable to pay school fees.”

The aim of SHAREs Tech Tanzania Program is to bridge the digital divide by providing reliable internet service to the Hekima Girls Secondary School. SHARE is designing and supporting a sustainable technology center. We have suppied e-readers and remote learning tools to the students and staff. The Tech Tanzania program also includes teacher training.”
