In the year 2000 the local priest wanted to tear down the convent that was built back in the early 1900's. He thought it was a financial drain on the parish and would save the parish thousands of dollars in maintenance, utilities, and insurance, if they just razed the building. A group of local people did not want to see that happen and were able to raise enough money to pay the expenses for the convent on an annual basis. After several years taking care of the convent building, this group was told by the local parish and the Dioceses of Great Falls-Billings, which actually owned the property, that if they could get their own Sec. 501(c)(3) designation, that they would give them the property. The 501(c)(3) designation was obtained in December 2009. The property was transferred to the Miles City Convent Keepers on October 15, 2010. The value placed on the property was the market value or replacement value put on the property by the insurance company. We have included with this return the Convent Keepers Mission Statement and History of the Convent.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2In the year 2000 the local priest wanted to tear down the convent that was built back in the early 1900's. He thought it was a financial drain on the parish and would save the parish thousands of dollars in maintenance, utilities, and insurance, if they just razed the building. A group of local people did not want to see that happen and were able to raise enough money to pay the expenses for the convent on an annual basis. After several years taking care of the convent building, this group was told by the local parish and the Dioceses of Great Falls-Billings, which actually owned the property, that if they could get their own Sec. 501(c)(3) designation, that they would give them the property. The 501(c)(3) designation was obtained in December 2009. The property was transferred to the Miles City Convent Keepers on October 15, 2010. The value placed on the property was the market value or replacement value put on the property by the insurance company.
