“Microleadership is at heart a leadership development organization. Its focus includes education on the science, the stakes and the solutions to global warming. Its strategy includes creating grassroots political momentum for the dramatic governmental policies that are needed, such as a carbon tax with 100% refund and united nations oversight and enforcement of greenhouse gas reductions. It will train and support ordinary citizens to lead in their lives on these issues. One of the niches where microleadership can succeed is to be a bridge between scientists who thoroughly understand the risks and realities of global warming and ordinary citizens who get only a partial picture depending on the media bias in their communities. The science is in, and it's overwhelming. It's the political will that is missing. Microleadership will help people move along a leadership continuum on global warming. First must come the basic science behind global warming. According to a recent public opinion poll, 41% of americans think that the dangers of global warming are being exaggerated. This at a time when climate scientists are alarmed at the speed of global warming. Then we must move people to take local action on the issues. Whether that is holding a house meeting, contacting an assemblyperson, speaking to their local church, mosque, synagogue or community group on the issues or inviting con ed in to do a home energy audit, people must take action. Finally, we need to develop advanced leadership with deep understanding of global warming and the necessary solutions.”

“Activities in the past included training 15 students each year to do public speaking on global warming in the community. One year these students gave 36 presentations to 16 different community organizations in front of a total of 2,000 attendees. Organizations included churches,, job corps, boys and girls clubs, several high schools and nasa goddard institute for space studies.”
