To promote health and wellness for children and adults in our community, and to highlight the salinas area in a positive way by inviting visitors to enjoy this healthy event and learn about agriculture and viticulture, which have supported our valley for generations.

IRS990EZ/ProgramServiceAccomplishment/DescriptionProgramServiceAccom0Over 1200 runners and walkers, aged 16 and into their 80's, participated in the inaugural half marathon in August 2010. More than 200 participated in a 13-week free training program we offered to prepare them for the 13.1 mile course, many of them first-time runners. Participants from 20 states and several foreign countries participated in the race. Signage along the race course highlighted crops growing throughout this agricultural valley teaching participants about fruits and vegetables that are grown in the Salinas Valley area, known as the "Salad Bowl of The World" due to the area's status as one of the largest suppliers of produce.
