Support the us state departments biological engagement programs bep in east africa in conjuction with civilian research and development foundation global managed the revision of the intregrated disease surveillance and response technical guideli nes the revision process focused on ensuring that the guidelines reflect the current disease states and surveillance needs in kenya in continuation with our relationship with bep and crdf gis coordinated and managed the biosecurity policy revision workshop at the lake elementaita lodge in the rift valley province in kenya the purposes of the workshop and subsequent finalization meetings were to revise the national biosecurity policy and to write a biosecurity bill for eventual submission to the kenya parliament gis also supported the national council for science and technology ncst in writing a draft bioscience policy and bill the consolidated policy and bill will provide a platform for discussions and sensitizing policy makers to a ll of the important biological issues facing kenya that need to be formalized by a legal parliament approved regulatory document gis supported the logistical planning and administrative management of the kenyan bioscience communication planning mee ting which was held at the masai lodge in rongai in kenya the purpose of the meeting was to inform the select group of communicators about the bioscience policy and bill and to ask for thier support in developing key messages to deliver to the publ ic stakeholders and policy makers

In conjuction with the center for international rehabilitation and medred gis assessed the readiness of the field epidemiology laboratory program alumni associaton and the kenyan ministry of public health and sanitation to implement a national data entry exchange and decision support system
