STEM CENTERS OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE (STEM-CAE) ARE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS THAT HOST THE HARRIS INSTITUTE PROGRAMS THAT WILL ENHANCE THE ACADEMIC SUCCESS OF YOUTH IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATHEMATICS THROUGH INNOVATIVE STEM-BASED ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED IN A VARIETY OF LOCATIONS. THE STEM-CAE SEEKS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH ACCESS TO EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITITES IN ORDER TO DEVELOP KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS, CULTIVATE LIFELONG LEARNING, AND TO PROMOTE RESPECT FOR DIVERSITY IN OUR GLOBAL COMMUNITY. EACH STEM-CAE MEMBERSHIP LEVEL CONTAINS A LIST OF PROGRAMS THAT INSTITUTIONS/ORGANIZATIONS CAN SELECT TO OFFER. Stem centers of academic excellence (stem-cae) are educational institutions that host the harris institute programs that will enhance the academic success of youth in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through innovative stem-based activities conducted in a variety of locations. The stem-cae seeks to provide students with access to educational opportunitites in order to develop knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their goals, cultivate lifelong learning, and to promote respect for diversity in our global community. Each stem-cae membership level contains a list of programs that institutions/organizations can select to offer. Programs include saturday academies, summer academies, leadership academies, after school programs, stem clubs, field-based programs, academic challenges and competitions, scholarship programs, virtual science camps, day camps, as well as professional development training. The stem centers of academic excellence program includes, but are not limited to: 1) summer stem camp - a program designed to engage middle school students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (stem) education during the summer where 72 middle school students from the fort bend independent school district participated in the program. 2) stem after school program - a program designed to provide educational opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (stem). 3 uteach volunteers and 38 middle school studens participated in the program. 3)stem scholarship program administered by the council of the great city schools (cgsc)to encourage and assist promising students of diverse backgrounds to pursue a college degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (stem). Scholarships valued at 5,000 each were awarded to four graduating high school seniors enrolled in a stem degree program at four year universities and colleges.

Curriculum design & professional development the harris institute develops curriculum frameworks for programs that can be hosted at educational institutions. In designing these frameworks, thi follows a process that will result in activities, experiences, and events designed to enhance teachers' content knowledge and pedagogy and to boost students' academic success. Professional development is available to assist teachers with enhancing their content knowledge and pedagogy by focusing on specific concepts and designing content rich, student-centered materials using a variety of instructional strategies and resources, including technology. In addition, thi supports teachers in planning, implementing, and evaluating student- centered activites and programs. Online learning has become a reputable alternative - or complement - to traditional face-to-face "seat time". The harris institute is no exception to this trend, offering a number of online and blended (online and face- to-face) courses.

Dare to dream program is a nine-month, elementary school based program that boosts self-esteem in children by providing access to positive role models. Dare to dream uses interactive math and science curriculums to get students thinking about their futures and exploring the exciting possibilities. The interactive curriculum is comprised of three modules whoch focus on self- improvement, community service, and goal setting/career planning. Ten elementary schools from two houston area independent school districts participated in the dare to dream program, representing over 250 elementary students, 10 vounteer probabtion officers, 11 fbi special agents, and 10 community in school volunteers.
