| Educational support regained the position of the largest amount of support for the various efforts IN KENYA. THE NUMBER OF STUDENT APPLICATIONS GREW SIGNIFICANTLY AS SUCCESS OF PREVIOUS EFFORTS BECAME EVEN MORE APPARENT FOR THE FAMILIES IN THE AREA. THE SUPPLEMENTAL SUPPORT OF TEACHERS IN THE PRIMARY SCHOOL AND THE RISING NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO QUALIFY FOR HIGHER EDUCATION ADDED SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE EDUCATION BUDGET. NATIONAL RULES GOVERNING THE EDUCATION PROCESS CONTINUE TO CHANGE AT A RAPID PACE, CAUSING INCREASED DIFFICULTY FOR THE ONGOING EFFORTS OF THE PRIMARY EDUCATION FOR THE RURAL POOR. EDUCATION ALSO PRODUCES THE MOST VISIBLE POSITIVE OUTCOME AS MANY STUDENTS BEGIN TO ENTER THE ECONOMY, MANY AS TEACHERS. HOWEVER THERE ARE ALSO A NUMBER ENTERING THE AREAS OF GOVERNMENT, NURSING, PHARMACY, AND ENGINEERING. THIS IS MOST GRATIFYING FOR LOOKING AHEAD. | $64,329 | - |
| JOSHUA HOUSE IS A HOME FOR CHILDREN AT RISK. THERE ARE MANY SUCH CHILDREN IN THIS RURAL AREA SERVED BY OUR PARTNER GAD KENYA. A STUDENT WHO HAD BEEN PROVIDED EDUCATIONAL AND NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT THROUGH SECONDARY SCHOOL MADE A DECISION TO GIVE BACK AND SUPPORT AT RISK, ORPHANED CHILDREN. THE NUMBER OF CHILDREN SUPPORTED GREW TO 13, MANY OF WHOM SHARED THE DUTIES OF CARING FOR AND FEEDING THE NEW FAMILY AS WELL AS TENDING THE NEW CHICKEN PROJECT, WHICH HAS PROVEN TO BE AN EXCELLENT PROJECT, PROVIDING BOTH WORK EXPERIENCE AND NUTRITION TO THE YOUNG RESIDENTS. JOSHUA, WHO MANAGES, OVERSEES, AND PROVIDES THE PRIMARY ADULT SUPERVISION WAS A TOTAL ORPHAN WITH NO CLOSE RELATIVES AND HAD RECEIVED SUPPORT BY OUR EFFORTS THROUGH HIS GROWING YEARS. HE TOOK IT UPON HIMSELF AS A PERSONAL PRIORITY TO RAISE FUNDS AND ACCOMPLISH THIS FACILITY. | $9,852 | - |
| MISSION EXPEDITIONS INCLUDES A LARGE GROUP VISITING IN APRIL. THEY WORKED WITH A KENYAN ORGANIZATION TO PROVIDE REUSABLE SANITARY PADS FOR THE YOUNG WOMEN ATTENDING SCHOOL AS WELL AS OTHERS IN THE VILLAGE. THE GROUP HELD SEMINARS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THEIR KENYAN COUNTERPARTS TO EDUCATE, INSTRUCT AND ANSWER QUESTIONS. A MISSION VISIT IN DECEMBER WAS COORDINATED WITH THE MENTORING AND ENCOURAGING EFFORTS OF YOUNG MOTIVATORS INITIATIVE, WHICH IS LED BY ANOTHER OF THE YOUNG ADULT GRADUATES OF OUR EDUCATION SUPPORT. THIS YOUNG MAN, ERIK, HAS ORGANIZED A SIGNIFICANT GROUP OF RECENT COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY/TRADE SCHOOL GRADUATES AND A FEW CURRENTLY STILL ENROLLED IN HIGHER EDUCATION, TO MAKE PUBLIC APPEARANCES IN RURAL AREAS TO ENCOURAGE PARENTS AND STUDENTS TO RAISE THE LEVEL OF THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION IN THEIR FAMILIES. | $3,983 | - |
