Appleway utilizes a property management company (kiemle & hagood) to manage the appleway court 202 complex. Appleway utilizes two employees of spokane united methodist homes (parent company) as its chief executive officer and chief financial officer. These individuals spend an average of 1-2 hours per week on appleway duties.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 11B

A copy of the 990 is provided to the chief financial officer, who reviews the form, schedules, and related attachments. Any comments or questions are addressed with the preparer, and a revised draft is provided to the entire board for review. Final approval is given to the preparer before finalizing. Once the board and management are satisfied with the 990, the cfo signs the form 8879-te authorizing the preparer to e-file the return.

The organization is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. Accordingly, no provision for income tax is necessary. The organization evaluates uncertain tax positions whereby the effect of the uncertainty would be recorded if the outcome was considered probable and reasonably estimable. As of may 31, 2024 and 2023, the organization had no uncertain tax positions requiring accrual.
