IRS990/Desc0The Center seeks to inspire people to address current economic and social problems as Frances Perkins would, through work in the areas of education, outreach and advocacy. The nonprofit, nonpartisan Center offers an interpretive exhibit on the life and achievements of Frances Perkins, the first woman to serve in the US Cabinet, FDRs Secretary of Labor and a principal architect of the New Deal. Beyond the exhibit in Damariscotta, Maine, the Center offers tours to her Newcastle Maine homestead. In 2014, the inaugural Betta Ehrenfeld Public Policy Forum was held to highlight the principles that guided the life and work of Frances Perkins and to apply those principles to todays economic and social problems. Also in 2014 a College of the Atlantic program featured speakers, including former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, discussing the life work of Frances Perkins.
