“Our other program service is Education of pet owners and prospective pet owners on how to be a responsible and good pet owner. We use our Website and Facebook pages to educate about the importance of: 1) Spay/Neuter programs to reduce pet over population with unwanted dogs ending up in shelters; 2) Heatworm Prevention to reduce the number of sick dogs that are dumped in the streets or left at shelters because their owners cannot afford the extremely costly treatment, 3) Microchipping animals to help them be returned to their owners if the pet is lost or stolen; and 4) Cruelty and threats to animals and ways to avoid them, such as excessive heat and cold issues, hurricane preparedness and evacuation, fireworks issues, toxic food and plants to avoid, and seasonal issues to consider around Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.”
