| Blossom Hill Foundation awarded five grants to the following nonprofit organizations for programming described below: The Karam Foundation is one of the leading non-profit organizations delivering aid and developmental programs for Syrian refugees. Their three primary initiatives are: innovative education, entrepreneurial development and community-driven aid for displaced Syrian refugees in and around Syria. In 2015, the Blossom Hill Foundations grant to Karam supported the establishment of Karam House, a community-led center of leadership for Syrian refugee girls and boys, ages 10 to 18 in Reyhanli, Turkey. The Karam House will provide year-round programming in creative therapy, technology, and entrepreneurship, as well as space for wellness screening (dental vision, dermatology and therapy) for both Syrian and Turkish children, youth and teens. $25,000. The Omid Foundations work to strengthen the social, emotional and economic competencies of disadvantaged young women ages 15 to 25 in Iran. The Omid Foundations received funding from the Blossom Hill Foundation to support the implementation of a new program initiative the Leadership and Peer Education Program (LPEP), which will be integral to the sustainability and impact of the OMID Program. In the pilot year, the LPEP will train 30 OMID Program graduates to become leader educators within OMID. LPEP will consist of three phases, lasting 36 weeks. $15,000. NicaPhoto is a small grassroots organization providing assistance to Nicaraguas most vulnerable children. The organization works to break the cycle of poverty through art and education by offering an eleven-month creative educational afterschool program four days a week. The program funded by the Blossom Hill Foundation supported 70 students between the ages of 8 and 16 66% girls and 34% boys. $9,000. Right To Play uses the transformative power of play to educate and empower children facing adversity. Through sports and play in open play spaces, Right To Play helps children build essential life skills and better futures, while driving social change in their communities with lasting impact. Right To Plays philosophy is helping children become children again. Blossom Hill Foundation in 2015 provided a grant in support of programming for children and youth in the Palestinian Territories (West Bank and Gaza). $25,000. Skateistan is a non-political, independent, non-governmental organization with a mission to use skateboarding as a tool for empowering youth, to create new opportunities and the potential for change. Blossom Hill Foundation supported Skateistans Back to School (BTS) program, which facilitates the entry or re-entry of vulnerable children into the public school system. The goal of the program is to raise the educational status of Afghan children that are most in-need of assistance in order to encourage the positive development of Afghan civil society.
