Mission

As ohio's statewide coalition, ohio alliance to end sexual violence advocates for comprehensive repsponses and rape crisis services for survivors and empowers communities to prevent sexual violence

The ohio alliance to end sexual violence (oaesv) is ohio's federally recognized statewide sexual assault coalition. Oaesv works to strengthen ohio's response to sexual violence through advocacy, training, technical assistance, prevention, and public policy leadership. We provide support to rape crisis centers, allied professionals, and communities to ensure survivor-centered services, advance prevention strategies, and expand equitable access to resources. Oaesv is committed to creating safe, thriving communities by shaping public policy that affects victims of the crime of sexual violence and promoting access to quality services statewide.

During the reporting period, oaesv achieved measurable advancements in statewide training, technical assistance, and capacity building. We expanded support for service providers through in-depth training and technical assistance, strengthening trauma-informed care, crisis response, and legal advocacy statewide. We maintained essential operational functions including contracted financial services, office equipment, rent, utilities, phone, and internet to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. We used evaluation tools and surveys to assess training needs and program effectiveness, enhancing professional development and conference programming. We offered no-cost webinars and statewide coordination meetings to increase access to training and strengthen ohio's rape crisis network. We funded liability insurance, audits, and it operationsexpenses often not covered by federal grantsensuring organizational stability and compliance.

THE FUNDING RECOGNIZED THAT SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE WERE SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACTED DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, PARTICULARLY WITH HOUSING INSTABILITY AND ACCESS TO SAFE, ESSENTIAL SERVICES. OAESV USED THESE FUNDS TO PROVIDE TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO LOCAL RAPE CRISIS CENTERS, SUPPLY PROGRAMS WITH TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT TO MAINTAIN VIRTUAL AND HYBRID SERVICE DELIVERY, AND OFFER MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS STIPENDS TO RETAIN STAFF DURING A PERIOD OF HIGH STRESS. THESE FUNDS ARE USED TO DELIVER COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO RAPE CRISIS CENTERS, HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS, COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS, AND ALLIED SERVICE PROVIDERS ACROSS THE STATE, STRENGTHENING THE CAPACITY AND CONSISTENCY OF SERVICES FOR SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE. THE FUND ALSO SUPPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR PROFESSIONALS TO ATTEND STATE AND NATIONAL CONFERENCES, ENHANCING SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE THROUGH HIGH-QUALITY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
